Occupational Therapist (Full-time, 11 months, Pinnacle School)

The Pinnacle School, a private, special education day school for college-bound students in grades 2 through 12, seeks an Occupational Therapist for a full-time, school based position (11 months). The focus of Occupational Therapy program at The Pinnacle School is to address students’ individual sensory and motor needs in order to improve their overall performance in the school setting and beyond. Our program focuses on sensory integration theory and praxis skill development in order to remediate critical foundational skills.

  The occupational therapist will work with students individually and in small groups throughout the school day in the School’s large, dedicated OT gym. The occupational therapist will be joining a robust and collaborative team of highly trained clinicians and teachers with expertise in special education, school counseling, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and classroom and behavior management.

 The Pinnacle School enables students with language-based academic and social deficits to thrive through small class sizes, differentiated instruction, active problem-solving and relationship building. We are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and is a Connecticut state-approved special education school. Our students are both privately and district placed, and come from Connecticut and New York.

 The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and valid Connecticut state license

  • Experience working with special education student populations (preferably in a school setting)

  • Skilled at performing and writing assessments

  • Strong background in sensory integration therapy

Science Teacher, (Full-time, 10 months, Pinnacle School)

Pinnacle School in Stamford, CT, is actively recruiting for a Full-time, Middle and High School  Science Teacher for the next academic school year.  Experienced with differentiated learners/special education is a plus.  Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type of differentiated instruction, writing IEPs, coaching students with special needs and daily challenges then you are a candidate for this position. Our school has fewer than 50 students enrolled and has a very strong, established team of leaders, teachers, life coaches and paraprofessionals who collaborate for the common goal of having each child reach their full personal potential.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years teaching Science to middle and high school age students

Special Education Teacher, (Full-time, 10 months, The Collaborative Center)

This position requires a teacher with special education experience (special ed certification required ) with education administration experience.  In this role, you will work directly with students with various types of learning disabilities in a collaborative, team-based environment.  You will administer and interpret diagnostic reading tests and math achievement tests, etc. and translate test results into action plans. You will also interface with parents and manage their expectations regarding their child's needs.

 This position requires special education teaching experience. Familiarity with IEP process a plus. Familiarity with Orton Gillingham reading methodology and the ability to support writing activities and test preparation activities for our students is essential.

Our Special Education Schools, Spire and Pinnacle, are looking for substitute teachers!   The substitute teacher is responsible for the continuation of all learning activities in the classroom.    Job duties include interacting with children during program times and ensuring Health and Safety of children at all times.  Substitute Teachers are also expected to communicate with the classroom teacher they are replacing, informing them of their progress in the assigned lessons and other issues that occurred in the classroom in the teacher's absence.
