Margret Ann Crone, MA
College Counseling Associate

Margret Ann joined GEG’s college counseling team in 2011. She brings experience working with students in many educational capacities, from admissions consulting and essay writing to test preparation, teaching, and tutoring. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Barnard College, the women’s affiliate of Columbia University. She loved her undergraduate experience so much that she returned to Columbia to complete her MA in Higher and Postsecondary Education. She lives in Stamford but travels to Iceland, her home away from home, as often as she can. In addition to being an educator, Margret Ann is also a writer, half-marathoner, globe-trotter, and yoga instructor.


William Dennett, MEd, CAS
Senior College Counselor

Bill joined Greenwich Education Group as Senior College Counselor in the first part of 2010 after six years in private educational consulting in the Fairfield, CT area. Prior to that, he was the Director of Admissions at the Choate School and Emma Willard School. In the 1980s and 1990s he worked in the admissions office at the University of Chicago and was Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Denison University. He holds a BA and MEd from St. Lawrence University and a CAS from the University of Chicago. Bill is a member of SSATB, IECA, NACAC and NEACAC. Bill lives in New Haven, CT with his wife Jane and two children, Garrett and Kathryn.


Victoria C. Newman, MS Ed
Founder and Executive Director, Greenwich Education Group
Director of Day and Boarding School Advisory Services

Vicky founded Greenwich Education Group (GEG) in 2003 and is the Executive Director of all GEG divisions. She is an educational consultant and co-director of Independent Day and Boarding School Advisory Services. Vicky began her educational career as a teacher in the Stamford Public Schools and then went onto teach in the Greenwich Public School System. She has been trained by the Orton-Gillingham Institute for Multi-Sensory Education, Windward Teacher Training Institute, and by Wright Group/McGraw Hill in Everyday Math instruction. She is deeply knowledgeable about the academic curriculum in both the public and private school arenas.

Vicky grew up in Manhattan and Westport, Connecticut, and graduated from the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York. After earning her B.S. from Syracuse University School of Education, Vicky received her Master’s Degree and wrote a thesis on differentiation of instruction at the elementary school level while interning in the Stamford Public Schools. Vicky holds a Connecticut Professional Teachers’ Certificate and is a member of IECA, ERB, and the SSATB.

Vicky and her team have expanded the services that Greenwich Education Group offers to ensure that the individual needs of each and every student are met. This led to Vicky founding 3 Independent Day Schools under the Greenwich Education Group umbrella to address the needs and learning styles of each individual student. Many of the services Greenwich Education Group provides have grown out of a need in the community. She strongly believes that while each child’s learning style and educational growth of students and is different; there is an appropriate educational match for every student. In her spare time, Vicky loves to travel, exercise, read, and watch TED Conference videos. She lives in Greenwich with her two daughters, husband Peter, and two dogs, A.J. and Cheyenne.


Linda Ortwein, MBA
Assistant Director, College Counseling

Linda has joined GEG as Assistant Director of College Counseling, working with both Beacon and Spire students and independent clients seeking freshman admission as well as transfer students. She brings her experience in the non-profit sector working with under-served students on the college process. Linda volunteers as a college counselor at a public school in the Bronx co-founded a mentoring program for Let's Get Ready, and works with students and other mentors at the Boys and Girls Club. Linda’s prior experience includes 19 years as the Regional Director of the Strategy practice with the management-consulting firm Kurt Salmon Associates, which specializes in consumer products. She holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MBA from Harvard University. Linda serves on the boards of the Greenwich Library and REACH Prep, a non-profit that provides educational enrichment and support for low and moderate-income students of color. She has two young adult children and lives in Greenwich with her husband. In her spare time she plays tennis and golf, and loves biking and adventure travel.


Jacquie Quigley, MBA
Day and Boarding School Advisory Services

Jacquie joined GEG in 2008 as an Educational Consultant to help families find educational solutions for their children at independent day and boarding schools. She earned a Masters in Business with a concentration in Marketing, and a BA in Spanish from Adelphi University. After a fifteen year career as a marketing professional, she pursued her passion and became actively involved in counseling Hispanic students at the High School level with course planning, testing and college advisement. She lives in Greenwich with her husband and three children. Jacquie is a member of SSAT and IECA.


Lorraine Serra, MA
College Counselor

Lorraine Serra is a college counselor specializing in college planning for creative students. She balances her passion for mentoring young people with a successful career as an award-winning art director and accessory designer. She earned a Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction from UCLA, an MA in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art & Design, and a BS in Visual Arts from SUNY Empire State. She also studied in the BFA Program at Purchase College.

Lorraine taught at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York from 1995-2004, and has lectured for the American Crafts Council as well as at numerous museums and colleges. She is a member of NACAC, IECA, NEACAC, the National Association of Colleges of Art & Design (NASAD), and the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). In 2010, Lorraine received a Puffin Foundation Grant to bring college counseling resources to underserved visual and performing arts students in Connecticut and New York. She frequently reviews student portfolios for organizations such as the National Scholastic Art Awards, Connecticut Art Directors Club, and FIT. Currently, she is researching information for a book about art schools. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and son, who is studying in Japan for the academic year.
