Science Teacher (Full-time, 10 months, Exempt)

Pinnacle School in Stamford, CT, is actively recruiting for a Full-time, Exempt, Science Teacher to teach High School Chemistry or Biology! Pinnacle School is a state certified special education school, grades 2 -12, for students on the autism spectrum and those with related disorders (Aspergers, non verbal learning differences, etc.). Our model of individualized behavior plans and our small group setting (classes are no more than 5:1, some are smaller) makes us unique, and 90% of our students are district-placed. Our unique model is supported by a strong interdisciplinary team comprised of special ed teachers, behaviorists, paraprofessionals, and clinicians, to ensure that every student's academic, social and emotional needs are met.

Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type of differentiated instruction, writing IEPs, coaching students with special needs and daily challenges then you are a candidate for this position. Our school has fewer than 50 students enrolled and has a very strong, established team of leaders, teachers, life coaches and paraprofessionals who collaborate for the common goal of having each child reach their full personal potential.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years teaching experience Science to middle and high school age students

  • Experience educating students who may require differentiated instruction and may have emotional and/or learning challenges

  • Must hold a CT certification in Bio or Chem: CT special education certification preferred
